I have a number of doors in my old house that squeaked non-stop when I first moved in. I treated them with a blast of WD-40 and opened and closed them repeatedly until the squeaks stopped. A few months later, the squeaks were back. The only way to stop doors from squeaking is to remove the damage that is causing the squeak. Lubricants will only provide a temporary fix. To do this, remove one hinge pin at a time by tapping the bottom of the pin with a small screwdriver and using a flat-head screwdriver to pry up the pin. Tap the pin out completely with a hammer and the screwdriver. Clean the shaft of the pin with #0000 steel wool until all rust and debris is removed. Now lubricate the pin and replace. Repeat for all hinge pins.
