Can Mayo Really Improve The Look Of Wood Furniture?

I have heard of a number of cleaning tips that just seemed too good or too weird to possibly work. This is one of them. My wife once informed me that her mother used mayonnaise to clean discolorations and marks on her wood furniture. I did not believe this to work, and doubted the concept of using an egg-based cleaning product that would surely rot or attract insects. But, in the spirit of looking for the best, the easiest, and the safest ways to clean, I had to try it. My living room table gets a lot of water marks and general wear and tear. It also has a few areas that were discolored by warm plates. I applied a very thin layer of mayo to each of the damaged areas and, as instructed, left it overnight. Surprisingly enough, it did help. It did not remove all of the marks, but it did help reduce the amount of discoloration. I have to say that for small marks or light discoloration mayo will make your wood furniture look better. It is not the best cleaning product by far, but did improve the look significantly!

How To Clear Up Foggy Glass

Almost anything made out of glass can be polished to remove tiny scratches or cloudiness. Simply go to your local automotive store and purchase some rubbing compound. Always use the mildest compound that you can find. Use a clean, damp microfiber towel or a polishing sponge and apply to the glass in a circular motion. Rinse often, and with a little elbow grease, you will remove the scratches. This works great on old mirrors, windshields, heat lights, just do not ever use on eye wear as it will remove any coatings applied to your glasses. Also, this method will permanently ruin plastic or any plastic-based glass. So make sure that you know what you are cleaning is made out of.

Remove Stubborn Scuff Marks on your Vinyl Floor!

If you tried out our previous method for removing scuff marks from your vinyl floor and the marks are just too stubborn, here's a stronger cleaner. First, make sure that the floor is indeed vinyl. Then, wet a paper towel with lighter fluid and work the scuff mark out. Once clean, remove excess fluid by wiping up with water and a clean clothe.

Cleaning Scuff Marks

To remove difficult scuff marks off of floors or walls, add 3 tbsp. of TSP (trisodium phosphate) to a gallon of water. Make sure you wear protective gloves and clean the scuff marks off of your floor or crayon marks off of your walls with a clean towel. TSP can be found in the paint department of a hardware store or any home store. Make sure that you do not use the solution on semi-gloss or gloss paint or wood surfaces.
