Avoid Shocking Your Fish!

I learned the hard way just how sensitive fish are to temperature changes. When you purchase a new fish for your aquarium, make sure that you allow the fish to slowly acclimate to the temperature of your tank or bowl. To do this, float the fish in its water-filled bag that it came in from the store in your tank for at least 10-20 minutes. This will cause the water in the bag to adjust to the temp of the tank and your fish will not suffer water shock.
