Curb Your Cat's Scratching

Two simple tricks to curbing your cat's desire to scratch everything are to find a better replacement to scratch and to make the areas that you do not want the cat to scratch unpleasant to the cat. Figure out what the cat finds appealing about the scratched area and create a better one. For example, if your cat keeps scratching a particular chair, find a swatch of a similar fabric and make a scratch post for your cat. To make the areas uncomfortable for your cat that they are currently scratching, spray them with a little perfume. Be careful not to make other areas uncomfortable for your cat. Adding double-sided tape to the items will also make it very uncomfortable for your cat. Remember, it's about changing their behavior and redirecting it to another area.
