Protect Wood Furniture For Winter

The weather changed quite abruptly. Yesterday it was 80 and today it didn't even make it to 60. Looking at the forecast, fall has arrived. It won't be long until it is time to fire up the furnace. Winter can be pretty harsh on wood furniture with low humidity and colder temperatures. Now is the best time to give all your wood furniture the moisture and protection it needs.

You should start by dusting the furniture. Next, clean the wood surface. You can use our homemade wood cleaner or you can use a commercial product like pledge multi-surface. After the wood has been cleaned, you need to protect it using some form of polish. We like to use Pledge, but for antique furniture be sure not to use a silicone polish as this can damage the finish. If you have natural wood kitchen cabinets, they also need this treatment.
